Creating an inviting environment, complete with all necessary amenities, to worship Allah, blessed be his name. We have come far since first obtaining the building for our Masjid. Now is the time to expand.
We are beginning the process of enlarging Masjid Al-Taqwa and need your help. We plan to enlarge the Al-Taqwa Masjid to include a prayer hall, bookstore staff offices, a multi-purpose hall, a computer lab, library, study rooms, and canteen/lunchroom. We have already completed our design plan and are ready for its implementation. We will expand the Masjid to the west, over the existing parking lot. That will allow worship and a school to provide quality education.
Al-Taqwa Islamic Center of Kansas City, Missouri wants our women to be comfortable when they visit the Masjid.
expanded kitchen and dining area will lend an added ambiance to our community events. New classrooms will enhance the study of the Quran.
Our new Masjid will have plenty of room for business, study, and relaxation as well as prayer. It will rival the best public buildings and places of worship.
As exciting as the men’s section will be, there is more. Our new section for women will also be beautiful.

That will allow our prayer hall to accommodate 400 worshippers during daily prayers. The basement level will still open to the north. It will have an area devoted for the women. The existing basement will still provide the washroom (ablution) area, the kitchen, an office and daily care area for small children. There we can teach them fundamentals of Islam, like the five pillars, blessings, ablution and other principals. We plan to increase the number of classrooms to 12, raising our capacity to 180 children.

Al-Taqwa Islamic Center of Kansas City, Missouri needs your prayers and contributions to create this lovely Masjid!
We do have an ambitious plan. Yet it is well-thought-out for steady growth. We have already made a significant investment in our Center, having purchased the property and completing upgrades to the Masjid, parking, and playground.
We want our children to receive a quality education, in accordance with the principles of our faith. We want to send the message that Islam is here to stay in Kansas City’s Northeast section. Al-Taqwa Islamic Center must be a beacon of hope for Muslims and those who may be interested in our faith.
This is not the first time that we have needed to raise funds to improve our mosque. The community has grown significantly since we purchased the property for $270,000.00 over a decade ago. Then, parking immediately became an issue, as worshippers had to park on the streets, often illegally. Not only was this situation inconvenient and dangerous, but we were also concerned that our neighbors were developing a poor impression of Islam.
Yet – praise Allah! – we saw a way to correct this problem. Through the generosity of many devout Muslims, we were able to raise $150,000. to build a new parking lot to the east of the Masjid. Now there is ample parking for out worshippers.
It will cost $1.8 million for the mosque expansion. Please consider this in the context that the City of Kansas City and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are investing $30 million to renovate the neighborhood. Our buildings representing our Islamic faith should stand our as pillars.
